Advanced Concealed Carry

Course Details

2-Day Training for the Alaska Concealed Handgun Permit. This comprehensive two-day course provides all required instruction to apply for the Alaska Concealed Handgun Permit. Students receive detailed legal education, structured safety training, mindset development, and practical weapons handling designed to build competence, confidence, and responsibility as an armed citizen.
Day 1 – Morning Session (9:00am – 12:00pm)

Training begins with a course overview, expectations, and a professional safety briefing. Students complete fingerprinting and photographs for permit documentation before transitioning into the Alaska State law portion of the program.

The legal block provides a clear, practical understanding of:

  • When the use of force is justified
  • Deadly force statutes and their legal boundaries
  • The responsibilities and liabilities of concealed carriers
  • Proper and safe interaction with law enforcement

This session ensures students understand not only how to carry, but the legal framework that governs armed self-defense.

Lunch Break: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Day 1 – Afternoon Session (1:00pm – 5:00pm)

The afternoon focuses on core safety principles and practical concealed-carry fundamentals. Students receive instruction on the Four General Rules of Firearms Handling, conditions of carry, and readiness levels tailored to daily concealed-carry use.

Range deck expectations are introduced in detail, including designated safe-handling zones, fiddle-table procedures, and emergency medical protocols. These standards ensure every student operates safely, consistently, and professionally throughout the course.

A dedicated mindset and defensive strategy block expands the student’s understanding of personal protection, covering situational awareness, threat recognition, home-defense and safe-room planning, escape and movement strategies, environmental considerations, and developing a personal decision-making framework: “What should I be thinking, and what is my plan?”

Course Equipment & Training Standards

Students must bring 500 rounds of ammunition, a reliable concealed-carry handgun, magazines, and a magazine pouch. Because this course emphasizes realistic everyday carry, all training is conducted exactly as you carry in real life.

Holsters must be practical, concealment-focused synthetic IWB or OWB holsters. Appendix and strong-side carry methods are emphasized.
Race rigs, competition holsters, leather holsters, and speed setups are not permitted, as they do not support safe or realistic concealed-carry training.

Students should ensure their firearm and gear are clean, functional, and properly fitted. A quality belt and clothing suited for concealed carry will improve both safety and performance on the line.

Throughout the course, instruction reinforces existing strengths, corrects weaknesses, and enhances proficiency in drawing, handling, and decision-making under pressure. The goal is to elevate both confidence and practical defensive capability.

At the end of training, students complete a higher-standard handgun qualification that fulfills all Alaska Concealed Handgun Permit requirements.

“Two-day concealed carry class was attended by myself, my daughter, and a friend—all of us at different comfort levels and experiences with handguns. The staff was very professional, direct and nice…I would highly recommend this organization for any training they offer.”

Christopher Grlica

I was pleased with the schooling I received at the private training facilities. Steve and his partner Slow Poke did a great job one-upping my skill level. They commended a safe environment and were clearly experienced and professional…I would train there again.

Jenn Graham

Fantastic group of people. I purchased a firearm and have taken two classes and multiple private lessons. If you’re a beginner, I highly recommend this company.

Jeffrey Bottorff

I recently took the Level 1 Pistol class with my girlfriend, who was terrified of firearms, and it was an amazing experience. I can honestly say this class really reassured, corrected, and improved our fundamentals. I trained with Steve and Danny, amazing instructors…

Kevin Staples

Great class and an awesome experience. The instructors took time to work one-on-one with students and help fine-tune even the most minor details to get the most of every shot. I’m looking forward to an excuse to come to Anchorage again soon.
