Select Fire Course


This 3 day carbine course will introduce the participant to the fundamentals of defense and marksmanship with a select fire carbine, caliber 5.56 (.223 Remington) focusing on when to utilize the application of full auto fire. The participant will learn the following: marksmanship and safety issues; how to zero their weapon; instruction on malfunction clearances; various firing positions; use of cover and barricades; weapon transitions; and using and applying the full auto mode. Instruction will also be provided on multiple threat and no-shoot situations.


Successful completion of the Defensive Handgun Course – Level 1 is preferred but not mandatory. Students must have either a valid Alaska Concealed Carry Permit, provide current military or law enforcement identification, or have obtained a State of Alaska background check prior to participating in this training.

  • -Minimum of 21 years of age
  • -Completed Application for Training
  • -Good quality urban select fire rifle/carbine .223 or 7.62x39 caliber with sling. If you do not have a select fire carbine, one can be rented for a nominal fee*
  • -Minimum caliber 9mm pistol.
  • -Strong-side, outside the pant good QUALITY hip holster.
  • -Ammunition carrier, 3 pistol magazines and 4 carbine magazines for automatics
  • -1,500 rounds rifle and 200 rounds pistol ammunition, minimum
  • -Appropriate clothing (Ball cap, BDU pants, closed toe footwear, rain gear, etc.)
  • -Safety glasses, hearing protection and knee pads (available upon request)
  • -Brown bag lunch and water
  • *Select fire rental fee is $50.00 a day
  • -Must use Alaska Tactical ammunition if renting a firearm
  • -Cost of ammunition is not included in carbine rental fee
