Are you tired of expending expensive ammunition, but not feeling like you’re improving? Do you want to improve your ability to rapidly put hits on multiple targets, but you’re not sure how to proceed? Then this program is for you.
Action shooting is for everyone. We all either enjoy shooting or simply know it is important to achieve, maintain and improve skill at arms. We have clinics and events that will challenge and encourage you to become the best shooter you can be.
Some people are highly competitive, we get that! To those we say, come see if you can win first place. Most of us simply want to shoot interesting and challenging stages to become safer, more confident and competent. And perhaps mostly because it is fun.
Do you want to see how your skill compares to other shooters? Come join us and find out.
Where Is Alaska Tactical?
The Alaska Tactical range facility is located at mile 58.2 on the Glenn highway (just before getting to Sutton if coming from Anchorage/Palmer/Wasilla). There will be an Alaska Tactical banner hanging at the turn off. There is no other marker for the turn, people should proceed downhill on the dirt road to the parking area. A search for “Alaska Tactical private range, Sutton” will give good results on most navigation systems. It is a solid one-hour drive from Anchorage in good weather/traffic conditions.
When Is The Competition Taking Place?
Saturday 21st May 2022 at 10am. The range will be open for people to arrive at 9am.
Cost Of Signing Up?
Cost for each participant for this first event will be $40/equipment division.
Rules And Regulations:
You can download the full list of rules here:
The event will be a 2-Gun competition. Suitable firearms are .22 pistol, centerfire pistol (usually 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP), .22 rifle, and Pistol-Caliber Carbine (PCC) [this is a rifle-type firearm that shoots pistol-caliber ammunition 9mm, 40S&W, 45 ACP].
Participants should bring one suitable pistol and one rifle/carbine. They can mix and match in any combination of ammo types. Participants should have a holster for their pistol.
Centerfire rifles using rifle-type ammunition (.223 Remington/5.56 NATO, 7.62×39, etc) are not allowed at this event.
Note: This event is for experienced competition shooters. There is an expectation of competence. Shooters who want to participate but lack prior competition experience should contact us to attend a clinic designed to get them up to speed before signing up for a competition. Clinics are not yet scheduled, we will react to demand.
The competition will take place over four stages, with the option of one or two extra “quickie” stages if time permits.
Each stage will require approximately 50 rounds of ammunition to complete*
Shooters should bring enough ammunition for all four stages plus plenty extra for re-shoots (this happens when a stage must be re-shot for some reason other than shooter error) plus any extra stages if time permits.
The rule-set for Alaska Tactical competitions is unique. Shooters must read and understand our rules before participating. Any shooter who has shot 2/3-Gun at Birchwood Recreation and Shooting Park (BRSP), USPSA, IDPA, etc will have no problem under our rules.
