Intro Handgun/Carbine/Shotgun

Introduction To Firearms Training

This is the very first step in becoming introduced to a firearm, whether it's a handgun, a shotgun or a carbine, this would be the class for you. In this class, along with learning proper safety procedures, comes basic introduction to the firearm. This includes proper stances, firing grip of the handgun and mounting of the rifle or shotgun. Proper use of the sights, marksmanship and techniques of how to become accurate. The course will review safety rules, mindset, basic drills, and positions. Even though the safety rules will be reviewed, the student will safely manipulate their firearm system without violating any of the four safety rules. This will be strictly enforced. In this 8-10-hour class the shooters will be introduced to:

  • - Formal introduction to the firearm.
  • - Safe handling and manipulation of the firearm.
  • - Proper techniques and developing a foundation of shooting.
  • - Proper range deck procedures.
  • - Engaging paper and steel targets.

The 8-10 hour class will start at the range at 0900 and finish at 1700 on either a Saturday or a Sunday. Again, three separate firearm platforms can be chosen from and each platform has its own, separate training course.

Students must have either a valid Alaska Concealed Carry Permit, provide current military or law enforcement identification, or have obtained a State of Alaska background check prior to participating in this training.
